Ausmar Commercial proudly assisted Reside Communities to construct the Homestead facility and accommodation at Samford Grove. Delivered on budget and two months ahead of schedule, the Samford Grove Homestead is a premium facility that promotes a healthy and active lifestyle for the community’s residents aged over 50. Its amenities include a cafe, library, 21-seat cinema, gym, indoor heated pool, beauty salon, practitioners’ consulting rooms, private dining room, bar, kitchen, workshop, communal BBQ area and landscaped gardens. The upper level of the Homestead features accommodation for Samford Grove residents. The apartments represent the epitome of luxurious living for over 50’s in South East Queensland. Offering a contemporary take on retirement living, these homes are as beautiful as they are practical. Ausmar’s ongoing construction work with Reside Communities, including the Samford Grove Homestead and accommodation, is a reflection of the companies’ excellent relationship which has been strengthened by Ausmar’s continual delivery of professional, high-quality design and construction services.
To deliver an aesthetically pleasing yet functional design, Ausmar Commercial created an aluminium screening feature along the building’s facade which also acted as a balustrade for the second storey accommodation. The practical and low maintenance design was created using a no-weld batten system to conceal fixings and create a streamlined look which was a client requirement for all the screens and balustrades. Echopanel was also used throughout the building to minimise acoustics, create depth and soften the typical painted plasterboard walls.
Degree of construction difficulty
To create an exceptional design feature, Ausmar incorporated bespoke hardwood trusses that were exposed along the reception’s raked ceiling and throughout the level one hallway. Handmade by local craftsmen, the hardwood trusses presented a unique construction challenge. The cumbersome but beautiful timber required additional planning and labour that would not have been required by using regular trusses, however it has resulted in a point of difference loved by the client, residents and visitors. Careful integration and coordination with existing community residents was a key factor to successfully delivering the Homestead and accommodation. It required a thorough Community Engagement Plan developed by Ausmar Commercial in consultation with Reside Communities. Of particular consideration were residents that lived less than 2m from the 12m high construction site as well as a local church and other neighbouring businesses within the nearby Samford Village. Proactive stakeholder communication and consultation helped to minimise disruptions and delays which resulted in a successful project delivered in just ten months, rather than the contracted 12 months.
Ausmar Commercial is committed to delivering exceptional quality workmanship on all projects, with the Samford Grove Homestead and accommodation being no exception. Our highly experienced and qualified team was overseen by hands-on Ausmar Commercial Director Richard Paris. The quality of work delivered has been so well-received by Reside Communities that they re-engaged Ausmar Commercial to construct their latest over 50’s lifestyle village on the Gold Coast.
