functional and visually appealing
When tasked with construction of a new Sippy Creek Animal Pound our project team worked hard to help create a space that is both functional and visually appealing. The new facility was designed to improve efficiencies by consolidating the existing small and large pound facilities already on the Sunshine Coast, so a range of new buildings needed to be incorporated into the project.
The new modern facility now includes a range of buildings such as the central administration and reception building, a cattery building with 32 proprietary cat enclosures including isolation areas & air conditioning, and a kennel building with 32 proprietary kennel modules.
The facility also includes an assessment area for administering animal procedures, a large animal enclosure complete with race and crush for handling large animals, plus public and staff car parking and adjoining walkways.
Now open, the state-of-the-art facility offers a modern environment for the management of the local pet population. The clinical nature of the building didn’t impact the potential for visual appeal with all areas of the administration building now contemporary and streamline with a pop of colour to add an element of fun to the environment.
The design and layout of the new pound was carefully created to allow for potential future expansion and the ability to service the region’s growing pet population and animal management needs now and into the future. The design was carefully considered to offer a modern facility that is also aligned with contemporary animal welfare obligations and guidelines for all animals from puppies to livestock.
