If saving a deposit has been the biggest hurdle between you and your first home, there's exciting news on the horizon.
A new beginning starts right here.
What is Boost to Buy?
Boost to Buy is a new government-backed initiative that helps eligible first home buyers purchase a home by contributing up to:
- 30% of the property price for new homes, or
- 25% for existing homes.
In simple terms, that means if you’ve saved just $15,000, you could be eligible to buy a new home worth up to $750,000 - with the government stepping in to help fill the deposit gap.
Who is eligible?
To qualify for Boost to Buy:
- You must be a first home buyer
- You’ll need a minimum deposit of just 2%
- The home must be valued at up to $1 million
You must earn:
- Up to $150,000 as a single, or
- Up to $225,000 combined as a couple
Expressions of interest open 1 July 2025, with the scheme designed to support up to 1,000 home purchases across the state. The Queensland Government has allocated $165 million to fund the program.
Why this matters
With Queensland’s home ownership rate sitting at just 63.5% - the lowest in the country - the Boost to Buy scheme aims to turn things around by putting the dream of owning a home back within reach for thousands of locals.
And it’s not the only initiative working in your favour right now:
- The $30,000 First Home Owner Grant has been extended
- Stamp duty has been abolished for first home buyers from May 1, 2025
