In July 2023, a bold idea took shape in Gympie—one grounded in generosity, community, and a shared mission to support local healthcare. Today, we are thrilled to share the success of the Wishlist House Gympie, a collaborative project that has raised an incredible $825,000 to fund vital services at Gympie Hospital and beyond.
A Community Project with Heart
The project began when Cos Schuh generously donated a block of land in Gympie to Wishlist. With this extraordinary gift came an exciting opportunity: to build a home that would not only serve a family but also support countless others through the sale proceeds.
Inspired by the success of two previous home builds, Wishlist once again partnered with AUSMAR, who took the reins as project managers and led the build from start to finish. The unwavering commitment and coordination of dozens of trades and suppliers ensured the dream became reality.
About the Home: The Avalon
Spanning almost two years, the build of the Avalon design was both rewarding and challenging. One major hurdle was securing trades willing to commit to the travel and time required in Gympie. Despite these challenges, the community rallied. Every room in the Avalon was thoughtfully designed for modern family life:
-
4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 3 living areas.
-
2550mm ceiling height, creating a spacious, open feel.
-
Fully landscaped and fenced, with Colourbond fencing and lush turf.
-
Stone benchtops, soft-close kitchen drawers, Bosch appliances, and a walk-in pantry.
-
Air conditioning, ceiling fans, full insulation, and termite protection throughout.
-
Double garage, driveway, clothesline, letterbox, and stylish vinyl plank, tile, and carpet flooring.
A standout feature is the home’s cleverly zoned children’s wing—complete with an activity area and study nook—designed to foster growth, creativity, and quiet focus.
Building Hope for Gympie Families
The sale of this beautiful home marks more than just the end of a successful construction project—it signals the beginning of enhanced care and comfort for Gympie patients and their families. The $825,000 raised will be directed toward three major initiatives:
-
Gympie Patient Transport Service
A free, hop-on-hop-off shuttle running twice daily between Gympie, Nambour, and Birtinya health hubs. It supports anyone attending medical appointments or visiting loved ones in hospital. (Now in operation.) -
The Butterfly Suite at Gympie Hospital
A sensitive and private space designed to support mothers and families who have experienced infant loss or stillbirth—offering comfort away from the main maternity ward. -
Paediatric Ward Redevelopment
Plans are underway to upgrade facilities in the children’s ward, ensuring young patients receive care in a more supportive, modern environment.
These projects are already making an impact. A Gympie Hospital staff member recently shared:
“The Butterfly Suite will be a haven for grieving families. It’s something we’ve needed for a long time. This is going to change lives.”
Powered by People: Our Incredible Contributors
We’d like to recognise the extensive list of contributors whose time, expertise, and resources made this home possible. From the site cut to final landscaping, more than 80 local businesses and volunteers played a role—including:

AUSMAR – Project management and build coordination
-
Keryn & Pete Angle at ONE Agency Gympie – Marketing and sale of the home
-
Cos Schuh – Land donation
-
AJT Legal & Power and Cartwright – Conveyancing support
-
Local trades and suppliers – Too many to name here, but each made a meaningful impact
Every slab poured, fence installed, appliance tested, and tile laid brought us closer to funding life-changing services for our region.
