Residential Draftsperson

11 Jun 2025
Maroochydore, QLD

WHAT DOES IT TAKE?

At AUSMAR, we’re always on the lookout for skilled and detail-driven people who want to build meaningful careers in the residential construction industry. If you’re looking to join a supportive, award-winning team and love the idea of delivering accurate, efficient costings that help bring dream homes to life - we’d love to hear from you.

We value precision, problem-solving, and collaboration in every estimate we produce.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

  • Estimating expertise: Confident using Databuild, Planswift, and other estimating tools, with a track record of accurate costings and efficient workflows.

  • Problem-solving ability: Able to anticipate and resolve construction, design, or documentation issues before they impact timelines or budgets.

  • Attention to detail: Every purchase order, BOQ, and forecast matters - accuracy is non-negotiable.

  • Communication skills: Comfortable working with sales, drafting, supervisors, and client liaison teams to ensure clarity at every stage.

  • Adaptability: Open to evolving systems, processes, and industry regulations.

  • Team collaboration: Able to work autonomously while contributing to a cohesive, deadline-driven team environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Draftsperson at AUSMAR, your role will include:

  • Producing accurate sales and construction drawings using Revit, including house sitings, elevations, internal layouts, and slab plans.
  • Reviewing and modifying master drawings to suit site and covenant requirements.
  • Problem-solving visual, construction or design issues as they arise.
  • Liaising with internal departments to ensure drawings meet both client and construction requirements.
  • Ensuring all plans meet AUSMAR’s internal standards and any relevant estate or NCC requirements.
  • Keeping systems up to date with job progress and ensuring documentation reflects latest revisions.
  • Supporting a smooth handover from design to construction by providing clean, error-free documentation.

REQUIREMENTS

We’re looking for someone who brings both skill and enthusiasm to the drafting table. Ideally, you’ll have:

  • At least 1 year of experience in a similar drafting role within residential construction.
  • Proficiency in Revit and confidence working with standard drawing sets.
  • A good understanding of the construction process and familiarity with National Construction Code (NCC), Queensland Development Code (QDC) and estate guidelines.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, regulations, and builder specifications.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work to time targets.
  • A collaborative mindset and great attitude - culture fit is just as important as capability.
