Drafting Manager

WHAT DOES IT TAKE?

At AUSMAR, we are always looking for talented and experienced people to join our growing team. We are seeking an experienced Drafting Manager to lead our residential drafting operations, ensuring the delivery of accurate, compliant and high-quality building plans.

About the Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll oversee our internal and outsourced drafting teams, managing workloads, maintaining quality standards and improving processes across all stages of residential construction.

You'll work closely with our Sales, Construction and Operations teams to resolve technical challenges, streamline workflows and ensure projects are delivered accurately and on time.

If you're a confident leader with strong residential drafting experience, advanced Revit skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving, this could be the opportunity for you.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, mentor and develop the drafting team, including training, performance management and professional development.
  • Oversee drafting workloads, priorities and deadlines across sales concept, contract and construction stages.
  • Manage and coordinate outsourced drafting resources, ensuring quality, accuracy, accountability and timely delivery of work in line with AUSMAR's standards and requirements
  • Ensure all plans comply with the NCC, QDC, local council requirements, estate covenants and relevant building regulations.
  • Review designs and documentation to identify compliance, buildability and construction risks.
  • Develop and improve drafting systems, procedures and workflows to maximise efficiency and consistency.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve technical challenges and streamline the drafting process.
  • Monitor team productivity, quality and performance against established targets.
  • Provide hands-on technical drafting support when required.

REQUIREMENTS

We are looking for someone who:

  • Minimum 5 years' residential drafting experience, ideally within volume home building, with strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit.
  • At least 1 years' experience managing or leading a drafting team within volume residential construction.
  • A Diploma of Building Design or higher qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant building codes, planning requirements and construction documentation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities, with the confidence to manage competing priorities.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
  • Sound Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.

AUSMAR’S head office and showroom are based in Maroochydore, with on-site parking (if you're quick!).

OFFICE HOURS

  • Monday to Thursday | 7:30am to 4.30pm
  • Friday | 7:30am to 12:30pm
