Before and After: Maroochydore Brick Home Becomes a Modern Family Home

From an original suburban brick home to a light-filled contemporary coastal residence, this Maroochydore knock down rebuild project showcases how older Sunshine Coast homes are being transformed for modern family living.

For this edition of our real Knock Down Rebuild Project Sunshine Coast series, we’re showcasing the Seaforth floor plan with Scandi Facade - a single storey rebuild designed to maximise functionality, street appeal and relaxed coastal living on an established suburban block.

Before: An Original Maroochydore Brick Home

Before the knock down rebuild, the 608sqm flat block was home to an original single storey brick residence featuring:

• 3 bedrooms
• 1 bathroom
• 1 car space
• 156sqm internal area

The existing home featured a basic suburban layout, large front yard and attached carport typical of many older homes throughout established Sunshine Coast suburbs.

While functional for its time, the ageing home no longer reflected the homeowners’ lifestyle or the way modern families live today.

After: The Seaforth with Scandi Facade

The site has now been transformed with AUSMAR’s Seaforth floor plan featuring the Scandi Facade - a contemporary coastal-inspired design suited to modern family living.

The completed single-storey home now includes:

• 4 bedrooms
• 2 bathrooms
• Double garage
• Dedicated media room
• 219sqm of living

The new home embraces a clean contemporary coastal aesthetic through:

• White rendered feature facade
• Horizontal weatherboard-style cladding
• COLORBOND® steel roofing
• Soft neutral coastal finishes

One of the standout design features is the front gabled entry with oversized framing and highlight glazing, creating a strong architectural focal point while enhancing natural light throughout the home.

Why the Knock Down Rebuild Worked

Rather than renovating the original brick home, rebuilding allowed the homeowners to completely modernise the property while maximising the use of the block.

The new design created:
