LEGACY PROJECT

Wishlist House 2020

In 2020, AUSMAR embarked on a journey that went beyond constructing buildings; it was about creating a haven of comfort and support for families facing challenging times. This journey was the heartwarming project known as Wishlist House 2020. The essence of Wishlist House 2020 lies in the unity and generosity of over 160 Sunshine Coast businesses and organisations that joined hands to make a profound impact. With the support of 92.7 MIX FM’s Give Me 5 appeal, AUSMAR, and countless compassionate souls, this project unfolded as a testament to what a community can achieve when driven by a shared goal.

A Legacy of Care and Compassion

Wishlist House 2020 is more than just a building; it’s a legacy of care, compassion, and understanding. At its core, this project aimed to provide solace and support to families in their times of need. Situated within walking distance from the Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH), this 6-bedroom accommodation facility serves as a “home away from home.” Families and caregivers find refuge here while their loved ones undergo treatment, surgery, or emergency stays at SCUH.

Touching Lives During Challenging Times

Despite the challenges posed by 2020, the spirit of compassion prevailed, and in May of that year, Wishlist House 2020 opened its doors through a virtual housewarming celebration. The impact was immediate and profound. Families facing some of life’s toughest moments found not only a roof over their heads but also a supportive community that understood their struggles.

A House Fueled by Heart

Wishlist House 2020 is a living example of what can be achieved when compassion and community spirit drive a project. AUSMAR proudly stands behind this legacy, knowing that every brick laid was not just part of a structure but a symbol of hope, unity, and the power of caring for one another.

Making a Lasting Impact

As we look back on this remarkable journey, we extend our gratitude to everyone who played a role in making Wishlist House 2020 a reality. Together, we have built more than a house; we have built a haven of comfort, compassion, and care.

FOLLOW THE BUILD JOURNEY

“AUSMAR have built a legacy that will help thousands of people needing to stay close to the sunshine coast university hospital for treatment. This ‘home away from home’ surpassed our expectations and we are so grateful to the team at AUSMAR for their support and the exceptional build quality which will stand the test of time.”

WHO DOES IT IMPACT?

The CEO of Wishlist, Lisa Rowe, eloquently summed up the significance of this endeavour: “Families in a crisis, when a loved one falls sick, they want to be close. This house provides the ability for families to be together during the worst time of their lives potentially, without the need to worry about how they’ll pay for it. It’s just one less stress in what is always a very stressful time if somebody you love is not well.”
