If you’ve been dreaming of buying your first home in Queensland, now might be the best time to act.
The Queensland Government has just extended the boosted $30,000 First Home Owner Grant for another year - now available until 30 June 2026 - and there’s even more good news.
What’s Changed?
✅ $30,000 First Home Owner Grant - Available for eligible first-time buyers who purchase or build a new home.
✅ Zero Stamp Duty - Eligible first home buyers building or buying new will now pay no stamp duty in Queensland.
✅ More flexibility - New rules allow first home buyers to rent out a room, helping ease mortgage pressure.
These changes are all part of a broader effort by the new state government to make the dream of home ownership more achievable - and for many Queenslanders, that dream is becoming a reality sooner than expected.
How Much Could You Save?
With these combined initiatives, first home buyers are already saving around $16,996 on average - just on stamp duty alone. That’s money that can go toward your deposit, moving costs, landscaping, or furnishing your brand-new home.
Why It Matters
At AUSMAR, we know how challenging it can be to get your foot in the door. Rising costs and limited supply have made it harder for many first-time buyers to secure their future. These changes not only reduce upfront costs but also boost confidence in building new - encouraging more homes to be delivered across the state.
As Premier David Crisafulli said, “We are unlocking the door to home ownership for thousands more Queenslanders who have been locked out from their first home for too long.”
We couldn’t agree more.
How AUSMAR Can Help
